Gunman Identified in Deadly Dallas ICE Facility Shooting
A 29-year-old man opened fire at a Dallas ICE facility, resulting in one detainee's death and two others injured before taking his own life.
A 29-year-old man opened fire at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas on Wednesday morning, killing one detainee and injuring two others before taking his own life.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Jahn, fired from a nearby rooftop into a courtyard where detainees were being processed.
Authorities discovered shell casings at the scene with handwritten messages expressing anti-ICE sentiments.
Jahn had ties to North Texas and Oklahoma. Public records indicate he lived in Fairview, Texas, and had a recent address in Durant, Oklahoma.
In 2015, Jahn was arrested in Collin County, Texas, for delivering marijuana. He pleaded guilty in 2016 and was placed on probation, which ended early in 2017 due to compliance with all conditions.
The FBI is investigating the incident as an act of targeted violence.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson condemned the attack, stating, "This is not just an attack on law enforcement and the victims—it is an attack on our community."
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive behind the shooting.
