Anthony Lim appointed DBS chairman to take over from Peter Seah in 2027
DBS announced that board member Anthony Lim will become chairman on Jan. 1, 2027, succeeding Peter Seah who will retire and serve as senior adviser for a year.
Singapore's largest bank, DBS, said on Thursday that Anthony Lim, 68, will assume the role of chairman on Jan. 1, 2027, succeeding Peter Seah, 80, who will retire at the end of 2026 and remain as senior adviser for one year. Lim, a former GIC executive and veteran of global institutional investment, joined DBS's board in April 2020 and currently chairs the compensation and management development committee while serving on the risk management and board executive committees.
Lim's background includes senior positions at Bankers Trust Company and a stint at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, where he led the foreign exchange, gold and liquidity division. In a media statement, Lim described DBS as an iconic Singapore institution and expressed pride that a homegrown bank is recognised among the world's leading banks. He added, \"Building on the strong foundations laid by my predecessors, I look forward to working closely with the Board and management to sustain DBS’ momentum and create long-term value for all our stakeholders.\"
CEO Tan Su Shan said Lim brings a global perspective, deep expertise and extensive networks that will help guide DBS as it strengthens its position as a trusted, pan-Asian, AI-enabled bank.
Temasek Holdings, DBS's largest shareholder, highlighted Seah's ambition since 2010 to make DBS the Asian bank of choice and noted the bank's growth in market capitalisation, profit and shareholder returns. The investment firm also praised the partnership between Seah and former CEO Piyush Gupta, describing good chairmanship as essential for decision-making, leadership development and cultural continuity.
