Toa Payoh and Tengah BTO projects attract highest demand in November sales round
The November Build-to-Order exercise saw 13,363 applicants for 7,964 flats, with Toa Payoh Hillside and Tengah Plantation Dew recording the strongest oversubscription.
A day into the Housing Development Board's November Build-to-Order (BTO) sales exercise, the Toa Payoh Hillside and Tengah Plantation Dew projects have emerged as the most oversubscribed, according to data released at noon on Wednesday, Nov 5. A total of 13,363 applicants have applied for 7,964 flats across seven projects in Bedok, Geylang, Sembawang, Tengah, Toa Payoh and Yishun.
The exercise, the first since the monthly household income ceiling was raised to $16,000 for families and $8,000 for singles, will close on Nov 11.
At Tengah's Plantation Dew (Standard), 652 applicants are competing for 178 two-room flats, while 1,390 families have applied for 532 three-, four- and five-room units, giving a median application rate of 1.3 for first-timer families. Buyers of the larger units can choose open-concept White flats without internal partitions.
Toa Payoh Hillside, a Prime project located near Caldecott MRT station and a forthcoming shopping mall, has received 2,137 applications for its four-room flats, more than three times the number of units available. The two-room units are also oversubscribed, with 1,247 applicants for 592 flats. The project is the only BTO offering Community Care Apartments, with eligibility lowered to age 55, and has attracted 139 applicants for 256 such units. The subsidy clawback for the Prime project stands at 11 percent.
Overall, the median application rate for first-timer families across all seven projects is 1.1. HDB advises applicants seeking better odds to consider projects with lower application rates, around one or below. Applications are submitted online via the HDB Flat Portal.
