Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility Leaves Two Dead, Including Suspect
A gunman opened fire at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, resulting in two deaths, including the shooter, and two injuries.
A shooting occurred at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas on Wednesday morning, resulting in two deaths, including the shooter, and two injuries. The incident began around 6:40 a.m. when a gunman fired from an adjacent building into the facility's sally port area. The shooter, identified as a white male, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound as agents approached.
The victims were detainees in ICE custody. Two were transported to Parkland Hospital, while one was pronounced dead at the scene. No ICE agents were injured in the attack.
Preliminary investigations suggest the shooter fired from a neighboring building, possibly from the rooftop of a nearby apartment complex. Evidence found near the shooter included anti-ICE messages, indicating a potential ideological motive.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem addressed the incident, stating that while the motive remains unclear, there has been a rise in attacks against ICE agents.
This attack follows a series of violent incidents targeting immigration facilities in Texas, including a coordinated attack on the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado in July, where multiple attackers opened fire, injuring a police officer.
The FBI is treating the Dallas shooting as a targeted act of violence, and the investigation is ongoing.
