Summary

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju delivered a forceful seven-point reply on X to Rahul Gandhi’s call for a debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling on the Congress leader to spend more time in India, respect parliamentary norms, and stop making anti-national attacks disguised as politics.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju posted a seven-point list on X responding to Rahul Gandhi’s repeated demands for an open debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rijiju made it clear that before demanding a मंच, the Congress leader should spend more time in India, cut down on frequent foreign trips, and behave more responsibly in parliamentary proceedings.

"Spend more time in India and avoid secret foreign vacations frequently," Rijiju wrote.

He also urged Gandhi to show proper respect to senior politicians, recognize the BJP as a political opponent and not an enemy, and stop the anti-India rhetoric that has repeatedly drawn criticism.

"Respect seniors and gain valuable wisdom from the elders, which is Indian tradition," the minister added.

Rijiju highlighted a recent parliamentary incident in which opposition members walked out during his address, underlining that Parliament exists for debate and discussion, and exposing the hypocrisy of those who speak about democracy while refusing to practice it.

"Parliament is the house for debates and discussion. But people who don't believe in democracy, debates and discussion are talking about debate," he wrote alongside the video clip.

The exchange follows Gandhi’s recent challenge to Modi for a public debate and his allegations that the prime minister is acting with foreign assistance, claims that have also prompted responses from other cabinet members.
