Eagles name Joe Milton starter for Week 9 matchup with Giants
Philadelphia will start Joe Milton at quarterback against New York after replacing Tanner McKee, marking the team's third starter this season.
Philadelphia will start Joe Milton at quarterback on Sunday against the New York Giants, according to sources speaking to NFL Network and ESPN. Milton becomes the Eagles' third different starter this season, taking over for Tanner McKee, who had started the previous three games.
Milton was signed from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad on Oct. 16, a day after the team placed Jalen Hurts on injured reserve following the discovery of multiple blood clots in his lungs. Hurts is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
The former Dallas backup, who appeared in four games for the Cowboys last year, entered the league as a sixth-round pick in the 2024 draft after a trade with the New England Patriots. He was waived during training camp but rejoined Dallas on the practice squad before being acquired by Philadelphia.
The Eagles, now 2-6, have lost six straight games and sit at the bottom of the NFC East. McKee, in his three starts, completed 63.2% of his passes for 638 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
