Mariners appoint Jason Kanzler as new manager
Seattle announced Jason Kanzler, formerly the Cubs' director of player development, as the team's 22nd manager, succeeding Dan Wilson.
Seattle announced on Tuesday that Jason Kanzler will take over as the Mariners' manager. The 36-year-old previously served three seasons as the Chicago Cubs' director of player development. Kanzler was selected after a final round of in-person interviews at T-Mobile Park that included members of the ownership group, baseball and business operations, and the major-league coaching staff. He replaces Dan Wilson, whose tenure ended after more than two seasons. Kanzler becomes the 22nd manager in franchise history and the third hired under president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto, who is entering his 12th season.
"We are excited to welcome Jason Kanzler and look forward to the contributions he will bring to our organization," said a Mariners spokesperson.
