Two Southampton teens arrested after Halloween party stabbings in Chandler's Ford

Summary

Police have detained two 16- and 17-year-old suspects in connection with a stabbing attack that left five teenagers injured at a Halloween party in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire.

Police arrested two teenage boys from Southampton on suspicion of attempted murder after five teenagers were stabbed at a Halloween party on Park Road in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire, shortly after 22:30 GMT on Saturday. Two victims remain in hospital with serious injuries, including a 17-year-old in a life-threatening condition, while the other three have been discharged.

Witnesses told the BBC that a fight broke out after an unknown group entered the party by climbing over a garden fence, though the motive for the stabbings was not clear. One teenager described seeing a victim pull up his shirt and say, "I've been stabbed," before finding him lying outside the house with someone applying pressure to the wound.

Det Ch Insp Elizabeth Pirie said, "Whilst the two arrests are a significant development in our investigation, which has moved at pace since the incident was first reported to us, we still urge our communities to contact us with any information, no matter how small it may seem."

She added, "If you were at the party and have not spoken with officers yet, or you have any CCTV, mobile phone, dash cam or doorbell camera footage covering Park Road and the surrounding area, then please get in touch."

The police force announced that local officers will be visiting schools and colleges over the coming week to provide advice and reassurance, and to support those affected. Reverend Duncan Hollands, vicar of Chandler's Ford, said the community was shocked by the incident and that churches had opened their doors for reflection and support.
