James Acaster says a second confession was cut from BBC's Celebrity Traitors

Summary

The comedian revealed on a podcast that an earlier admission of being a Traitor to fellow contestant Jerry Hall was omitted from the final edit of the show.

James Acaster told host Alan Carr on the "Life's a Beach" podcast that he had earlier confirmed to fellow Celebrity Traitors participant Jerry Hall that he might be a Traitor, a moment that did not appear in the broadcast.

"I looked her in the eye and said, 'I think it might be me too, Jerry,' and she said, 'You're very sneaky.' And I told her I was very sneaky and it might be me," Acaster said.

Acaster said he assumed the exchange would be included in the episode, adding that he expected it to be part of the edit. He also noted that much of his commentary during the penultimate roundtable was trimmed, explaining that producers often remove remarks that could hint at the Traitors' voting decisions.

"Most of the time, they want to keep how the Traitors vote as a surprise. They don't want to be like there's hints that I might go one way or the other. So a lot of the time what I said at the roundtable is cut out," he explained.

The claim follows earlier speculation that footage had been removed after Acaster appeared distressed during filming, a report cited by The Sun. A BBC spokesperson said the safety and welfare of participants is a top priority and that a dedicated welfare team monitors and supports players throughout production.

The series concluded with Faithful contestants Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft winning the final round and donating their charity prize to the Refugee Council and Choose Love, respectively. Celebrity Traitors continues to be available on BBC iPlayer.
