Following a complaint from BJP Mumbai chief Ameet Satam, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation removed Dia Mirza's anti-pollution Diwali video, while other celebrity messages remained online.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) removed a video featuring actress Dia Mirza that urged citizens to limit noise and air pollution during Diwali on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The decision followed a public objection by BJP Mumbai chief Ameet Satam, who posted on X that the city did not need “lessons on how to celebrate Diwali” from the actress. Within hours of Satam’s comment, BMC officials, led by Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide, deleted the clip from the corporation’s X and Instagram accounts. Other campaign videos starring Madhuri Dixit, Nishigandha Wad and cricketer Ajinkya Rahane continue to be available on the same platforms. Civic officials did not respond to requests for comment.
