Shooting at New Hampshire Country Club Leaves One Dead, Two Injured; Suspect in Custody

Summary

A shooting at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, resulted in one fatality and two injuries; a 23-year-old former employee has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

A shooting occurred at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, on Saturday evening, resulting in the death of 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare and injuries to two others. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old former employee Hunter Nadeau, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities reported that Nadeau entered the club and opened fire, leading to the fatality and injuries. The two wounded individuals, one an employee and the other a patron, were hospitalized; the employee is in critical but stable condition, while the patron's status remains unknown. At least four others sustained non-gunshot injuries, including lacerations and blunt force trauma.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with some patrons attempting to subdue the shooter. One individual reportedly struck Nadeau with a chair, an act credited with preventing further harm. New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella commended the patrons' actions, stating they "put aside care for their own safety and worked to intervene and stop the shooter."

The motive behind the shooting is under investigation. Authorities noted that Nadeau made several statements during the incident, including "Free Palestine," but emphasized that his actions appeared aimed at causing chaos rather than being driven by hate. There is no known connection between Nadeau and DeCesare.

Nadeau is scheduled for arraignment at the Ninth Circuit Court in Nashua on Monday. Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
