Task force travels to Florida to advance DNA analysis in Nancy Guthrie disappearance
A Pima County Sheriff’s Department task force has gone to Florida to consult with laboratory scientists on DNA testing as the investigation into 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance enters its ninth month.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced that a task force dedicated to the Nancy Guthrie case has traveled to Florida to meet with laboratory scientists and explore additional DNA analysis options. The department said the meeting generated several ideas and that investigators will continue working with partners to advance the investigation as it approaches its ninth month.
Guthrie, 84, is the mother of "TODAY" co-host Savannah Guthrie. She vanished from her Tucson home in February, and federal authorities have described the incident as a kidnapping-for-ransom case. In July, officials reported that hair evidence collected during the probe was not linked to any suspects.
Savannah Guthrie has repeatedly appealed for public assistance, posting a photo of her mother on Instagram in August and urging anyone with information to come forward.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that "no tip is too small" and urged anyone with information to contact 88-CRIME or 1-800-CALL-FBI.
