Nintendo Declares November 1 Pikmin Day and Announces Pikmin 4 Demo for Switch 2

Summary

Nintendo announced November 1 as Pikmin Day, confirmed the release date for Pikmin 4 on Switch 2, and detailed a free demo and upcoming updates for Pikmin Bloom.

Nintendo announced that November 1 will be celebrated as Pikmin Day, a designation the company says will continue annually. The company also confirmed that Pikmin 4 for the upcoming Switch 2 console will launch on November 12, and a free demo featuring one standard level and two Dandori Academy levels will be released on November 2.

"Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy is coming November 12," said series creator Shigeru Miyamoto during the presentation.

The Switch 2 version is expected to offer enhanced visuals and voice-command features that allow players to issue simple commands such as “Rush” or “Go to work” to the character Oatchi. The Dandori Academy component will provide time-trial challenges, with players able to submit their best times on weekends.

Miyamoto also revealed that the mobile title Pikmin Bloom will receive a substantial update later in the year, adding secret caves that can be accessed via maps earned in the game or through Pikmin 4.

The presentation reminded viewers that all Pikmin titles are currently available for purchase on the Switch and Switch 2 eShop, though no indication was given that the original Pikmin games will join the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.

Actress Fuka Koshiba, known for voicing Kiki in "Kiki’s Delivery Service," appeared on the broadcast to express her enthusiasm for the franchise and to introduce a new Pikmin short film. Miyamoto indicated that additional shorts will be released through the Nintendo Today app in the future.
