Toronto police seek public help to locate suspect in Bridle Path home invasion
Police are asking for information about a 23-year-old man who was wounded after a home invasion in Toronto's Bridle Path, while three armed suspects remain at large.
Toronto police are requesting assistance from the public to locate a 23-year-old man identified as a suspect in a violent home invasion that occurred earlier this week in the Bridle Path neighbourhood. The man was taken to a Toronto hospital on Thursday with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder, which police say resulted from an accidental discharge by another suspect during the incident. > "[The man] was shot in the right shoulder and as such he may be experiencing pain or discomfort in that area and people may look to see him favouring that side of his body," Inspector Kristy Smith told reporters.
The invasion was reported on Thursday morning at a residence near Hyde Park Circle and Post Road. Police said three men in their 20s, armed with handguns and a hammer, forced entry, demanded valuables and assaulted four adults – a 75-year-old father, a 64-year-old mother and their 26- and 28-year-old daughters. The victims were hospitalized after being shot and struck with the hammer.
David Morton, chief executive of MAC Group, confirmed that three family members remain in hospital recovering from their injuries. He said the family is traumatized but on the path to recovery.
Police have described the three suspects as men in their 20s wearing dark clothing and face masks, who fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV. They are considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information about the wounded suspect or the other two men is urged to contact authorities.
