Toronto family injured in Bridle Path home invasion, police seek three suspects
A real-estate executive and his family were shot during a home invasion in Toronto’s Bridle Path, prompting a police search for three suspects and increased police presence in the neighbourhood.
A home invasion in Toronto’s upscale Bridle Path left a 75-year-old real-estate executive, his wife and two adult daughters wounded, with the mother also sustaining a hammer injury. Police described the incident as a random attack that occurred early Thursday morning and said three suspects broke into the residence, demanded valuables and fled in an SUV.
The victim, David Morton, chief executive of the MAC Group, issued a statement thanking the public for its support and expressing concern over the rise in violent home invasions in the city. He said the attack turned what should have been a safe home into a “terrifying and life-threatening experience.”
Toronto police reported that the city has experienced 119 home invasions in 2026, a 35 percent increase from the previous year, even as overall shootings and homicides have declined. The force is actively searching for the three alleged perpetrators.
In response, the Toronto Police Service deployed additional resources, including a mounted unit and increased patrols, to the neighbourhood. Police Chief Myron Demkiw said residents can expect a heightened police presence in the coming days as authorities address the growing trend of home invasions.
