Selma Blair apologizes in Instagram video after flight assault arrest

Summary

Actress Selma Blair posted an Instagram video apologizing for an alleged assault on a Delta flight and confirmed she has pleaded not guilty to two assault charges.

Actress Selma Blair posted an Instagram video on Friday in which she apologized for an alleged altercation on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York on Oct. 11. She said she "takes this very seriously" and expressed regret for any harm or fear caused to others.

Blair, who was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, pleaded not guilty and was released on bond. The incident, investigated by the Port Authority Police Department, involved two flight attendants who were injured; one required hospital evaluation.

In the video, Blair noted that she had been quiet for several weeks at the request of her lawyers and thanked people who had sent messages of support, mentioning her son and her service dog, Scout. She said she would focus on her health and her family while the case proceeds.

A criminal complaint filed in Queens charged Blair with assault against a Port Authority officer and a registered nurse. A judge set bail at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond, and the case was adjourned to Jan. 19, 2027. She also received a federal violation notice for alleged assaults within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, which will be addressed in a Brooklyn federal petty violations court.
