A 64-year-old Sacramento man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident at the ABC10 television station on Friday. Anibal Hernandezsantana was taken into custody at a residence in the 5400 block of Carlson Drive in River Park. He faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Friday, when at least three gunshots were fired into the station's lobby from a passing vehicle. A person was present in the lobby at the time but was not injured. Images showed three bullet holes in the lobby window.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation. Notably, the day before the incident, a protest was held outside the station regarding the network's suspension of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' Protesters carried signs with messages such as 'First Amendment' and 'Resist.'
In response to the shooting, ABC10's parent company, Tegna, stated they are fully cooperating with law enforcement and have implemented additional measures to ensure employee safety.
