A 21-year-old Florida resident was arrested and charged with written threats after posting a selfie promising to shoot President Donald Trump at a rally.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood announced that Allison Albro, 21, of Daytona Beach, was taken into custody on charges of written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device. The arrest follows a Thursday selfie post in which Albro wrote, "Going to the Trump rally in my city tomorrow so I can shoot him with my Glock! Wish me luck guys!!"
Chitwood said Albro claimed the post was a joke and that she does not possess a firearm, but emphasized that the sheriff’s office is cooperating with the Secret Service, FBI and other partners and will not tolerate threats against the president.
The incident comes as President Donald J. Trump is scheduled to speak in Daytona Beach at 7 p.m. on Friday. Earlier, a separate plot to target Trump at his West Palm Beach golf club was foiled in September 2024, resulting in a life sentence for the gunman.
