CENTCOM chief outlines Iran options to President Trump
U.S. Central Command head Admiral Brad Cooper briefed President Donald Trump and senior officials on possible military actions against Iran, amid reports of diplomatic outreach and heightened regional defenses.
Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, briefed President Donald Trump on potential military options concerning Iran, a source familiar with the meeting said. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine and other senior officials attended the briefing, according to the source.
The discussion follows a recent meeting between senior military leaders and Vice President JD Vance, during which Vance reportedly contacted Iran in an effort to restart peace talks. President Trump rejected those reports, stating that Vance’s communications with Tehran were limited to discussions about medical-equipment shortages.
U.S. officials have previously warned Gulf Arab states to prepare for a brief, high-intensity campaign, and the United States appears to be reinforcing its regional posture. Additional Patriot air-defense systems have been dispatched to Israel, and troops are being repositioned from more vulnerable bases. Further air-defense assets, munitions and logistical supplies have also been sent to the area.
