Amanda Batula cites online harassment as key factor in leaving "In the City"
The reality star said persistent hate and bullying online influenced her decision to exit the show, amid reports of contract and casting disagreements.
Reality television personality Amanda Batula announced that ongoing negative comments and harassment from fan accounts and the internet were major reasons for her departure from Bravo's "In the City," according to an Instagram direct message shared by a fan account. > "The continued hate from fan accounts and the internet is a huge reason why I decided I wasn’t ready to film again and put myself back out there," Batula wrote. > "The bullying has been [too] intense, who would want to put their life out there for others' entertainment when they’re constantly ripped apart and beaten down for every single thing they do."
Page Six confirmed that Batula, 35, will not return for the series' second season. Sources reported that the network had proposed a limited, part-time role for her, but disagreements over the involvement of her boyfriend, West Wilson, and salary expectations contributed to her decision to decline. One source said the network opposed Wilson's participation, while another suggested timing was the primary issue, and a third indicated the network could not meet her compensation demands.
The show's current cast, which includes Batula's estranged husband Kyle Cooke and former friend Lindsay Hubbard, continues filming with new participants. Earlier personal conflicts involving Batula, Wilson, Cooke, and former co-star Ciara Miller have been publicly discussed on social media and addressed during a "Summer House" reunion.
Despite leaving "In the City," Wilson is reported to be returning to reality television in the celebrity cast of Netflix's "Million Dollar Secret" Season 3.
