The BJP delivered a commanding performance in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, winning six of 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh and three of four in Karnataka, while Congress managed a lone graduate-seat win in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in a result that again showed where voters placed their trust.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies captured a majority of the 28 legislative council seats contested across four states, reaffirming the public confidence behind the party’s strong governance and disciplined grassroots network. In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP secured six of the 11 seats, including victories in the Agra Graduates, Bareilly-Moradabad Teachers, Lucknow Teachers, and both the Teachers and Graduates constituencies in Meerut, as well as the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teachers seat. The Samajwadi Party won three seats, taking the Allahabad-Jhansi Graduates constituency and the Teachers constituencies in Varanasi and Agra-Aligarh, but could not stop the BJP’s decisive advance.
In Karnataka, the National Democratic Alliance swept all four seats, with the BJP winning three: Shashil G Namoshi in the North-East Teachers constituency, SV Sanknur in the West Graduates constituency, and KM Suresh in the South-East Graduates constituency. Its ally Janata Dal (Secular) claimed the remaining Bengaluru Teachers seat, completing a clean and emphatic NDA sweep that reflected solid voter backing.
In Maharashtra, Congress candidate Abhijit Govindrao Wanjarri, backed by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), defeated BJP rival Sudhakar Kohle in the Nagpur Division Graduates constituency by 3,271 votes. > "The way the BJP put its all into these elections; big leaders of the BJP were in Nagpur. However, voters were with us," Wanjarri said. The MVA also won two additional seats in the state, while the BJP and Shiv Sena each secured one, showing that local contests can still produce mixed results despite the BJP’s broader strength.
In Bihar, the BJP won two declared seats—Tirhut Teachers and Kosi Graduates—and was leading in the Darbhanga Graduates constituency. Other parties and independents also secured seats in the ongoing count, as the tally continued to reflect the competitive nature of the race.
Overall, the results highlight the BJP's strong performance in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, contrasted with mixed outcomes for the opposition in Maharashtra and other states, reinforcing the party’s expanding reach while leaving room for varied local verdicts.
