Fitness program rebrands as "Evvr" after founder faces domestic-violence charges

Summary

The "28 by Sam Wood" fitness brand has been renamed Evvr and received a new visual identity following the founder's recent arrest on domestic-violence allegations.

The Australian fitness program formerly known as "28 by Sam Wood" announced a rebrand on Wednesday, adopting the name Evvr and a new purple-and-white logo while retaining its existing Instagram handle. Pilates instructor Alice Bennett introduced the change in an Instagram video, saying the brand will continue to offer the same trainers and workouts under the new identity. "In the coming weeks, you’re going to see a new name and a fresh, new look," Bennett said, adding that the name reflects the slogan “evvr.ybody evvr.yday evvr.ywhere.”

The rebrand follows the arrest of the program’s founder, Sam Wood, after police were called to a Noosa property on October 3. Prosecutor Sgt. Jeanette Grigoris told the Maroochydore Magistrates Court that the alleged victim expressed fear for her safety and reported being choked. Wood acknowledged an argument and admitted to pushing and shoving but denied choking. The case remains under investigation.
