Clayton Kershaw, the Los Angeles Dodgers' esteemed left-handed pitcher, has declared his intention to retire at the conclusion of the 2025 MLB season, concluding an 18-year career exclusively with the team.
Kershaw, 37, has amassed a remarkable record, including three National League Cy Young Awards and the 2014 NL MVP. He has been instrumental in the Dodgers' World Series victories in 2020 and 2024 and has earned 11 All-Star selections.
In July 2025, Kershaw achieved his 3,000th career strikeout, becoming only the fourth left-handed pitcher to reach this milestone.
Dodgers owner Mark Walter praised Kershaw's contributions, stating, "On behalf of the Dodgers, I congratulate Clayton on a fabulous career and thank him for the many moments he gave to Dodger fans and baseball fans everywhere, as well as for all of his profound charitable endeavors. His is a truly legendary career, one that we know will lead to his induction in the Baseball Hall of Fame."
Kershaw's final regular-season start at Dodger Stadium is scheduled for Friday night against the San Francisco Giants.
