Packers' Matthew Golden listed as DNP for Tuesday practice due to shoulder and foot injuries
Wide receiver Matthew Golden missed Tuesday's walkthroughs after being listed as a doubtful non-participant because of shoulder and foot issues, leaving his availability for Thursday's game uncertain.
The Green Bay Packers reported that second-year wide receiver Matthew Golden was a doubtful non-participant for both Tuesday walkthrough practices after dealing with a shoulder injury and a newly reported foot problem. Coach Matt LaFleur said the team hopes Golden will be able to play, but his status will likely be confirmed after the final practice report ahead of Thursday night’s matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
Golden, who recorded 12 targets in the previous game, was limited in the team’s final practice before being placed on the questionable list. If he remains sidelined, the Packers could increase the role of Savion Williams, who has been the third receiver in recent weeks, and Tucker Kraft may move into the No. 2 slot.
Fantasy analysts advised treating Golden as a true game-time decision for Week 8, noting that his recent performance included a 39-yard total in a low-scoring contest despite a high volume of targets. The team’s short-week schedule adds uncertainty to his availability.
"We hope he plays," LaFleur told reporters when asked about Golden’s status.
The report also mentioned other injury updates across the league, but Golden’s situation remained the primary focus for the Packers' upcoming game plan.
