Samsung Rolls Out One UI 8 to Galaxy S25 Series, Begins Testing One UI 8.5 for S26
Samsung has initiated the global rollout of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 series and commenced internal testing of One UI 8.5 for the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup.
Samsung has begun the global rollout of its One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. This update introduces advanced AI capabilities, an optimized user experience across various device forms, and personalized, proactive suggestions to enhance daily routines. The rollout commenced on September 15, 2025, with the Galaxy S25 lineup, including the S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge, receiving the update first.
Following the S25 series, the update is scheduled to reach the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, and additional eligible models later this year. Samsung's structured update process aims to provide users with a clear timeline for when their devices will receive the latest software enhancements.
In parallel, Samsung has initiated internal testing of One UI 8.5, as indicated by the first build spotted on internal servers. This version is expected to power the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup, including the S26 Pro, Edge, and Ultra models. The company plans to launch these devices with the incremental One UI 8.5 release, rather than a full version upgrade to One UI 9.
This strategic shift in Samsung's software release schedule aligns major updates with the annual launch of its foldable devices, while the mainline Galaxy S-series receives incremental updates. This approach reflects adjustments to Google's evolving Android release plans and Samsung's commitment to delivering timely software enhancements to its flagship devices.
