Kiah Stokes scores career-high three-pointers as Valkyries edge toward WNBA title

Summary

Kiah Stokes posted 13 points, including three of four 3-point attempts, helping the Golden State Valkyries win Game 5 and move within one victory of the WNBA championship.

Golden State Valkyries center Kiah Stokes delivered a postseason-high 13 points in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals, converting three of four attempts from beyond the arc. Her scoring contributed to the team's most efficient offensive performance of the series, as the Valkyries shot 39% from the field and secured a one-game lead in the best-of-seven matchup.

Stokes also recorded eight rebounds, one assist and three blocks, extending her streak of games with at least three blocks and setting a Finals record with 17 blocks overall. The performance came after the team had lost two consecutive games earlier in the series.

"I just know what I do. A lot of my game isn't really pretty. I do the dirty work," Stokes said after the game.

Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase praised Stokes' shooting, noting the improvement in her three-point attempts. "Now she's just shooting that 3-ball like it's a layup. It was beautiful," Nakase said.

The league announced that Game 6 will be played at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
