Summary

Harry Gilby, Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn have been cast as Charlie Weasley, James Potter and Lily Potter for season one of HBO's Harry Potter adaptation, which premieres Dec. 25.

HBO announced that Harry Gilby, Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn will portray Charlie Weasley, James Potter and Lily Potter, respectively, in the first season of its Harry Potter series. The season, titled “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” is scheduled to debut on Dec. 25.

James and Lily Potter, who appeared only in flashbacks and photographs in the original films, will now be featured in new scenes, while Charlie Weasley, a minor figure in the books who was omitted from the movies, is being introduced for the first time on screen.

The series continues to build its ensemble cast, with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, among many others. Season two, based on “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” is currently filming at Leavesden Studios.

“Harry Potter” is written and executive-produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes. Executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Lett, David Heyman, Laura Neal and Jon Brown.

"There is nothing special about Harry Potter — or so his Aunt Petunia tells him. But when a mysterious letter of admission to Hogwarts arrives, it opens the door to a hidden world of magic, friendship and adventure," the series logline reads.
