Samsung has initiated the worldwide release of its One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, starting with the Galaxy S25 series.
Samsung has commenced the global rollout of its One UI 8 update, built upon Android 16, for the Galaxy S25 series. The update first became available on September 15 in South Korea, initially targeting users who participated in the beta program. A broader public release is now underway, extending to Galaxy S25 devices in regions where the beta was not offered. Users can download the update by navigating to Settings > Software update and selecting 'Download and install'.
One UI 8 introduces several enhancements, including a redesigned Reminder app with categories displayed at the top for quick access, and the ability to create reminders directly within the Calendar app. The split-screen feature has been improved, allowing users to adjust app sizes for a more flexible multitasking experience. Additionally, the Secure Folder has been enhanced to hide apps and prevent notifications when locked, offering increased privacy. The Quick Share function has also been streamlined, enabling faster file sharing through a dedicated button in the Quick Settings panel.
The update is expected to reach flagship devices from 2024 in the coming weeks, with some markets potentially receiving it by October. While One UI 8 may not represent a significant overhaul, it focuses on refining the user experience with important improvements and new features.
