Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Addresses China's Reported Ban on AI Chips
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang responds to reports of China's ban on the company's AI chips, expressing disappointment and acknowledging broader geopolitical issues.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has expressed disappointment following reports that China's Cyberspace Administration has instructed companies, including ByteDance and Alibaba, to cease purchasing Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000D AI chips.
"We can only be in service of a market if the country wants us to be," Huang stated, acknowledging the broader geopolitical dynamics between China and the United States.
Huang described Nvidia's recent experiences in China as "a bit of a rollercoaster" and advised financial analysts to exclude China from their forecasts due to ongoing governmental discussions.
Previously, the U.S. imposed restrictions on Nvidia's AI chip exports to China over national security concerns. In August, a deal was announced allowing Nvidia to receive export licenses in exchange for 15% of Chinese sales of the H20 chip going to the U.S. government.
Despite these challenges, Huang emphasized the significance of the Chinese market, noting its size and vibrant technology industry. He affirmed Nvidia's commitment to supporting both Chinese and U.S. governments as they navigate geopolitical policies.
