Mayoral candidates Brad Bradford and Olivia Chow held separate news conferences on Sunday, reiterating their key promises as Toronto voters prepare to head to the polls on Monday.

Mayoral candidates Brad Bradford and Olivia Chow each held a news conference on Sunday to outline their platforms ahead of Monday’s municipal election. Chow, speaking on Polson Street, said her priorities include building more affordable housing, capping TTC fares weekly, providing free school lunches, offering property-tax relief for local grocers and expanding the RentSafe Enforcement program to address problematic landlords.

"The race is neck and neck. Your vote will decide it. If you believe we are a city of people who take care of each other, who stand up for each other, then tomorrow, vote for the city we believe in," Chow told reporters.

Brad Bradford concluded a seven-day tour of Toronto’s 25 wards in the St. Paul’s area, accompanied by his family and MPP Stephanie Smyth. He reaffirmed commitments to freeze property taxes in the first year, cut water bills by 25 percent, improve transit reliability, eliminate slow zones and enhance public safety.

"The message I’m hearing from people is that we need change, positive change, in this city. Change that makes us feel safer, change that makes life more affordable, and change that makes it easier to get around the city. Now the good news is, we’re on the cusp of change," Bradford said.

A poll commissioned by CP24 and CTV News Toronto shows Chow leading with 49.8 percent of decided voters, while Bradford trails at 46.6 percent, a difference within the survey’s 3.6-point margin of error, indicating a statistical tie between the two candidates.
