Prince William recalls trying to shift Travis Kelce out of Taylor Swift selfie on Graham Norton Show
Prince William said he attempted to move NFL player Travis Kelce out of a group photo with his children and Taylor Swift during her 2024 London concert, a story he shared on a TV appearance.
Prince William told host Graham Norton that he tried to reposition Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce during a selfie taken with his two eldest children and pop star Taylor Swift at the London stop of her Eras Tour in June 2024. > "Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn’t work out why he kept coming back in. I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children," the future monarch said, adding that he eventually succeeded in getting a version of the photo that showed only the royal family and Swift.
The original image, later posted on Swift’s Instagram account, showed the singer in the foreground, Prince William and his children nearby, and Kelce near the back with his hand on William’s back. Swift captioned the post, "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start," and noted the inclusion of Kelce.
William admitted he was unaware of the photo’s significance until recently, saying, "I wasn’t aware [of the significance of the selfie] until recently. I hadn’t appreciated the significance."
The selfie marked the first time Swift featured Kelce on her Instagram feed, preceding their engagement in August 2025 and a wedding at Madison Square Garden in July 2025. While media speculation suggested Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales might attend the ceremony, they did not.
In July, William and Kelce reflected on the encounter during the athlete’s New Heights podcast, with Kelce describing the meeting as "one of the coolest moments ever" and expressing enthusiasm about meeting the royal children.
