Saturday Night Live UK references Thomas Markle investigation in comedy sketch

Summary

The British version of Saturday Night Live referenced the ongoing investigation into Thomas Markle's alleged possession of child sexual abuse material during a Weekend Update segment.

Saturday Night Live UK included a reference to the investigation of Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in a recent Weekend Update sketch. Comedian Paddy Young said the story had dominated recent news about the Duchess, noting that Markle had moved to the Philippines in 2025. Another performer, Ania Magliano, added a comment about the potential impact on the Duchess's royal status if the allegations were proven.

According to reports, Philippine authorities are examining hundreds of images of child sexual abuse that were allegedly found in Markle's home. The material was reportedly discovered by his son, Thomas Jr., who handed it to local police. Markle has denied the accusations, describing them as false and harmful.

Meghan Markle issued a statement saying she is "deeply distressed" by the allegations and explained that she has limited contact with her father to protect her children. She referenced a 2018 letter sent to the Metropolitan Police that raised concerns about her father and said she trusted the authorities to investigate.

"I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of," Markle told the Daily Mail.

"This is bulls–t. It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies," he added.

Meghan and Prince Harry are parents to son Archie, 7, and daughter Lilibet, 5.
