Michigan hockey defeats Western Michigan with goal in final 0.1 seconds

Summary

Michigan's men's hockey team beat fifth-ranked Western Michigan 3-2 after scoring with 0.1 seconds left, extending its unbeaten start to 7-0-0.

Michigan secured a 3-2 victory over fifth-ranked Western Michigan on Friday night, scoring the winning goal with just 0.1 seconds remaining in the third period. The Wolverines netted three third-period goals and the decisive tally came from forward Will Horcoff, who beat goaltender Quentin Miller as time expired. Western Michigan attempted a final off-side challenge, but the goal stood.

"I honestly just went black," Horcoff said to MLive.com, describing his reaction to the last-second goal.

Defenseman Dakota Rhéaume-Mullen added, "I was like, 'There's no way that actually happened.' That's a crazy coincidence. That's a crazy finish. Playing a good team like Western Michigan and winning like that at the last second, that's why you play till the last second."

The win kept Michigan unbeaten at 7-0-0 on the season, and the team will travel to Ohio State for two games the following weekend.
