Apple Store pickup for iPhone Duo resumes in select markets with limited slots
Apple has reactivated the iPhone Duo reservation system for in-store pickup in several countries, but availability remains extremely limited.
Apple has begun restoring the iPhone Duo reservation feature for Apple Store pickup on its online store in a handful of regions, including Australia, China, Japan and South Korea. The rollout is still in its early stages, and the company’s spot check found only a single unit available for pickup in Australia, which vanished shortly after being listed.
In other markets such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Singapore, the online store continues to advise customers to check back on Saturday, October 24, as the system is expected to become active in additional time zones.
"Demand for the device was nothing short of extraordinary," Apple said after pre-orders opened, noting that delivery estimates now extend into late January and that the company is working to satisfy demand as quickly as possible.
Apple briefly offered the pickup option for a few minutes when pre-orders launched last Friday, but it was quickly withdrawn. With limited online slots, many stores reported long queues and some customers obtaining the iPhone Duo on a walk-in basis. Apple Store pickup remains a possible avenue for those unable to secure a device through other channels, and the company recommends monitoring the order page and refreshing frequently.
