Apple launches first foldable iPhone Duo amid crowds in Los Angeles

Summary

Apple unveiled its inaugural foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, prompting fans to line up and camp outside several stores in the Los Angeles area.

Apple introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, at several retail locations in the Los Angeles region on Friday. The device folds to a pocket-sized form and opens into a mini-tablet with a near-seamless display. Video footage captured customers gathering outside the Pasadena Apple Store, as well as stores at The Grove in Los Angeles and the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, before the stores opened.

Because inventory was limited, some shoppers risked leaving without a unit, and a few individuals in Pasadena camped overnight to increase their chances of purchase.

"You know you can kind of sense the energy around the launch. So everyone is gathered. It's almost a community feel out here," said one person in line. "We tried to pre-order it online, weren't able to get it. So now we are here and made some fun out of it," another customer added.

The iPhone Duo starts at a price just under $2,000.
