Brewers and Rays Set to Clash in 2026 World Series

Summary

The Milwaukee Brewers will host the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the 2026 World Series, with both clubs seeking their first championship.

Milwaukee and Tampa Bay will open the 2026 World Series on Friday at 7 p.m. Central Time, with Jacob Misiorowski slated to start for the Brewers. The Rays have not yet announced their Game 1 pitcher.

The Brewers entered the Fall Classic after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in a four-game NLCS and earned home-field advantage with a 103-win regular season. Their rotation will give Misiorowski about twelve days of rest before his next start.

Tampa Bay advanced past the Cleveland Guardians in a six-game ALCS, after the Guardians briefly led the series 2-1. The Rays could consider using Drew Rasmussen, who started Game 5 on Sunday, for Game 2 to provide additional rest.

Both franchises have never won a World Series, joining the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners and Colorado Rockies as teams still seeking their first title. The last time two such clubs met in the championship was in 1980, when the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Kansas City Royals.

Milwaukee’s sole previous appearance came in 1982, when they lost the series after taking an early lead. Tampa Bay has reached the Fall Classic twice, in 2008 and the shortened 2020 season, falling short on both occasions.
