Amazon MGM Studios Schedules Final James Bond Screen Tests for Late Month
Amazon MGM Studios plans to hold the last round of screen tests for the next James Bond actor next week, with three actors reportedly shortlisted.
Amazon MGM Studios announced that the final round of screen tests for the next James Bond could begin as early as Friday and continue through the following week. Sources said at least four actors have received test offers, and three of the four expected to audition are Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O’Connor, though the information remains unconfirmed.
The auditions were originally slated for earlier in the month but were delayed due to scheduling conflicts among the finalists, prompting the studio to consolidate the tests at the end of the month. While the testing phase is set to conclude next week, no specific timeline has been provided for when a casting decision will be announced, though industry observers anticipate a verdict by the end of the year.
The search for Bond’s successor began in the spring when casting director Nina Gold was hired. After two months of meetings, the first round of auditions was scheduled for August. Since then, producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, along with director Denis Villeneuve, have narrowed the pool to the current finalists and issued test offers in September.
Since acquiring full creative control of the franchise earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios has been methodical in assembling the behind-the-scenes team, appointing Pascal and Heyman as producers, selecting Villeneuve as director, and hiring screenwriter Steven Knight last summer. The studio has focused on finalizing the story before moving forward with actor auditions.
Further updates will be provided as the casting process progresses.
