Lea Michele in Talks to Return as Rachel Berry for Glee Reboot

Summary

Lea Michele is reportedly negotiating to reprise her role as Rachel Berry in the upcoming Disney+/Hulu reboot of Glee, while other original cast members have not yet confirmed participation.

Lea Michele is in discussions to return as Rachel Berry for the Disney+/Hulu reboot of the musical series Glee, according to sources cited by Deadline. The reboot was announced a day earlier, and co-creator Ryan Murphy said he has contacted about ten members of the original cast, though no casting decisions have been publicly confirmed.

Michele’s involvement follows her recent work on Broadway, where she completed a run as Florence Vassy in the revival of Chess, and a guest appearance on the CBS series Elsbeth. Sources indicate that Matthew Morrison has not yet entered talks for the reboot, though he remains hopeful about joining the project.

The original series, set at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio, followed the New Directions glee club and addressed various social issues through musical performances. The reboot will be produced by 20th Television, and the original Glee series continues to stream on Hulu.

"We understand that the actor is hopeful that he will be part of the project," a source told Deadline.

Rosy Cordero contributed to the report.
