Titans Release Defensive Lineman Jordan Elliott After Firearm Incident at Training Facility
The Tennessee Titans cut defensive end Jordan Elliott after he brought a gun to the team's Nashville training complex, citing a violation of NFL firearm policy.
The Tennessee Titans announced Wednesday that defensive lineman Jordan Elliott has been released following an incident in which he brought a firearm to the team's training facility. The NFL’s firearm policy bars any personnel from possessing guns on club premises, including stadiums, hotels, and team transportation. The league was notified promptly and is reviewing the matter.
Titans head coach Robert Saleh said Elliott “had a terrible lapse in judgment that I recognize as a call for help more than a criminal act,” and described him as “a good man” who deserves another opportunity, though not with the Titans. Saleh added that the rules regarding guns on team property are clear and expressed willingness to recommend Elliott to other clubs.
Quarterback Cam Ward commented that “we’re all humans… he’s a great person,” reflecting support from teammates. Elliott, 28, had appeared in the team's first five games of the season before being listed as inactive for personal reasons. He was signed this offseason after stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns.
The Titans issued a statement noting the incident occurred on October 15 and that, after reviewing the situation, the decision was made to release Elliott. No police were called to the scene, and Nashville authorities did not respond.
