Lea Michele to Reprise Rachel Berry in Disney+ and Hulu's Glee Reboot
Lea Michele has confirmed she will return as Rachel Berry in the upcoming Glee reboot for Disney+ and Hulu, joining several original cast members.
Lea Michele will reprise her role as Rachel Berry in the upcoming reboot of the musical series Glee, which will stream on Disney+ and Hulu, Variety reported citing multiple sources. The confirmation comes as the production moves forward with a script written by series creator Ryan Murphy, along with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.
Two former cast members, Heather Morris (Brittany Pierce) and Chord Overstreet (Sam Evans), have also indicated on social media that they will return to the new series. Murphy said in a recent interview that he has been in contact with about ten original cast members, all of whom expressed enthusiasm for the project.
Michele, who originally led the Glee ensemble from 2009 to 2015, previously highlighted her willingness to join a reboot in an interview with E! News, stating her lasting affection for the show and for Murphy’s work.
The original series followed Rachel Berry’s ambitions at McKinley High School’s glee club, culminating in a finale where the character wins a Tony Award and marries Jesse St. James. Michele earned an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globe nominations for her performance on the show.
