NFL media chief says league has no concern over reported tension between Monday Night Football commentators

Summary

NFL executive Hans Schroeder told reporters the league is not worried about rumors of friction between Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, praising their on-air performance.

NFL senior vice president and chief media officer Hans Schroeder said the league is not concerned about reports of tension between Monday Night Football commentators Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

"I don’t know if you watched the game on Monday night. It was an incredible game, right? It was an incredible game and incredible coverage by Joe and Troy, just like they always do. ... The fans deserve first-class game production, which Joe and Troy have delivered since their first year in 2002. I think you’ll continue to see them do that as well as anyone. I thought it was awesome Monday night. And so we’re incredibly excited about the year, the Super Bowl and their coverage," Schroeder said, as quoted by Mark Maske of Front Office Sports. Schroeder added that the NFL does not get involved in the broadcasters’ contract negotiations and that the league’s focus remains on delivering high-quality game presentations. While speculation continues about Aikman's future with ESPN/ABC, the network has a roster of analysts who could step in if a change occurs before the Super Bowl broadcast.
