Apple Pencil support arrives for iPhone Duo with iOS 27.2 release

Summary

Apple Pencil compatibility for the iPhone Duo will be added in the upcoming iOS 27.2 update, expected to roll out next week.

Apple Pencil support for the iPhone Duo will be included in the iOS 27.2 update, which is slated to launch next week. The feature was originally announced for "later this year" when the device was unveiled in September, leading many to expect a December release. However, iOS 27.2 will enable Pencil functionality as early as the public rollout on or around Monday, October 26, and for users testing the iOS 27.2 release candidate, the support is already active.

"Support is available in the iOS 27.2 RC," Max Weinbach wrote on X.

The iPhone Duo will only work with the USB-C version of the Apple Pencil; other Pencil models are not compatible. The USB-C Pencil, which also works with most iPad models, is currently priced at $69.

Owners who pre-ordered the iPhone Duo and receive the device on Friday will have Pencil support within a few days, while other users will gain the functionality when the update reaches their devices.
