GTA 6 digital pre-orders exceed 6 million, generating $594 million, Sensor Tower reports
Sensor Tower estimates that Rockstar's GTA 6 has already secured more than 6 million digital pre-orders worldwide, with about 74% of them on PlayStation, producing roughly $594 million in revenue.
Sensor Tower’s latest analysis, cited by GamesIndustry, indicates that Rockstar’s upcoming open-world title GTA 6 has surpassed six million digital pre-orders globally as of October 13. The pre-orders are estimated to have generated about $594 million in revenue, after accounting for returns.
The platform breakdown shows PlayStation accounting for roughly 4.51 million pre-orders (about 74% of the total) and Xbox for about 1.57 million (26%). Correspondingly, revenue is estimated at $441 million for PlayStation and $153 million for Xbox. These figures are third-party estimates and have not been confirmed by Rockstar or Take-Two.
In the United States, Sensor Tower data suggests GTA 6’s digital pre-order trajectory outpaces any other game tracked over the past six years, posting a 148% lead over the previous record holder, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022). The comparison includes titles such as Diablo IV, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Wolverine, God of War Ragnarök, The Last of Us Part II, Starfield and Ghost of Tsushima, all of which fall significantly behind GTA 6.
The estimates cover only digital pre-orders; physical pre-order numbers are not included, and the six-year U.S. comparison applies solely to games tracked by Sensor Tower. Earlier forecasts by Piper Sandler projected that GTA 6 could sell up to 48 million units in its launch week, potentially setting a new record for entertainment launches.
