Apple rolls out iOS 27.2 with updates to Messages, TV, FaceTime, Home, Podcasts and Games

Summary

Apple's iOS 27.2 update, arriving next week, adds new features to six built-in iPhone apps, including suggested actions in Messages and a profiles screen for the TV app.

Apple announced that iOS 27.2 will be released next week, bringing a series of enhancements to six native iPhone applications.

In Messages, a new "Suggested Actions" feature will appear beneath messages when relevant, offering quick options such as creating calendar events, reminders or notes. Users can also adjust which types of suggestions are shown.

The TV app on iPhone and iPad will now include a profile selection screen, allowing multiple users to maintain separate viewing histories and recommendations. The screen can be disabled if not needed.

FaceTime’s Dual Capture, which streams front- and rear-camera feeds simultaneously, is extended to Group FaceTime calls in iOS 27.2. On iPhone 17 and later, users can activate the feature with the existing flip-camera button.

The Home app receives two new automations for compatible smart locks: “Lock After Closing,” which locks a door a set time after it is closed, and “Door Left Open,” which notifies users if a door remains open beyond a chosen interval.

Apple Podcasts introduces a split Up Next queue on the Home tab, separating "New Episodes" from "Continue Playing" to help users locate fresh content and unfinished episodes more easily.

The Games app’s Home tab now lists recently downloaded games that have not yet been played, and it displays updated achievement progress and leaderboard scores for easier tracking.
