Patriots place WR Romeo Doubs on injured reserve, expect return after bye
Wide receiver Romeo Doubs was moved to injured reserve after a shoulder injury, with the team anticipating his return following the Week 11 bye.
The New England Patriots placed wide receiver Romeo Doubs on injured reserve on Monday, ending his participation for at least four games. Doubs, 26, suffered a shoulder injury while catching a 42-yard touchdown in the Patriots’ 26-19 win over the New York Jets on Sunday and left the game in the third quarter.
According to an ESPN report by Jeremy Fowler, Doubs is "hopeful to return after the Week 11 bye" and the injury is not expected to become a long-term issue. Under NFL rules, he will be eligible to practice after the Week 10 game against the Detroit Lions, giving him extra time to recover during the team's bye week.
The Patriots will have four other receivers on the active roster—A.J. Brown, DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism—while Mack Hollins, who has been on injured reserve since Week 5, is slated to return to practice in Week 9. The team travels to Chicago to play the Bears on Thursday Night Football.
