Apple rolls out release candidate updates for iPadOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2

Summary

Apple has begun distributing release-candidate builds of iPadOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2 and related updates, with a public launch expected in early October.

Apple started delivering release-candidate (RC) versions of iPadOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2 and other software updates. The RC builds are intended to match the final public releases, allowing Apple to identify any remaining bugs before the official rollout.

The company is skipping the interim 27.1 update for most devices, moving them directly from the current 27.0 version to the upcoming 27.2 release. While a second RC may be issued if significant issues are found, subsequent changes are usually minor.

The updates introduce several new features, including suggested actions in Messages, Profiles for Apple TV on iPad, a refreshed Apple Music icon and design, an overhauled Up Next queue in Apple Podcasts, expanded language support for Siri AI, new automation controls for compatible smart locks in Home, and a contextual Siri popup on iPad.

Apple expects to make the final iPadOS 27.2 and accompanying updates available to users by the end of October, likely early next week.
