Trump's comments on Ohio Senator Jon Husted's physique become talk at GOP event

President Donald Trump described Ohio Senator Jon Husted's physique in detail during a rally in northern Kentucky, noting the former college football player’s shoulders, jawline and other features. The remarks quickly turned into a recurring joke at a Darke County GOP gathering in western Ohio, where about 300 attendees ate a hog roast.

"I know the president’s been talking about me as a football player and a few other things these days," Husted said, acknowledging the laughter from the crowd.

Trump’s appraisal, which included comments such as “I examined his ass, and then I looked at his shoulders… it was like a piece of steel,” was part of a broader pattern of the president commenting on the appearances of political figures. He previously made similar remarks about Husted at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, and has also compared the looks of other candidates, including Georgia Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Mike Collins, and Texas Senate nominee Ken Paxton.

Ohio Republican Senator Bernie Moreno, who defeated incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown two years ago, responded by saying he would not comment on Trump’s anatomy but praised Husted as “a really, really good senator.” State Auditor Keith Faber, a candidate for attorney general, also referenced the president’s comments, noting Husted’s athletic background and legislative record.

The focus on physical appearance has become a notable element of the campaign discourse in Ohio’s competitive Senate race, with GOP officials using the president’s remarks to rally supporters while also distancing themselves from the more personal tone of the comments.
