SNL UK Criticizes Shane Gillis Over Profane Remarks About Women

सारांश

The British edition of Saturday Night Live mocked host Shane Gillis for using profanity and making jokes about women's clothing during his recent appearance.

Saturday Night Live UK aired a segment that targeted last week’s host, comedian Shane Gillis, after he used profanity on air and made remarks describing women’s gym wear in derogatory terms. Co-anchor Ania Magliano repeated the profanity while commenting on Gillis’s comments, noting that the language was not censored because the broadcast aired after the UK’s 9:00 p.m. watershed rule permits adult content.

Magliano also highlighted a story about a Munich Oktoberfest ride operator who distributed cycling shorts to female riders, suggesting the shorts could prevent up-skirt incidents but also implying they made women “vulnerable to something much worse.” She displayed an image of Gillis opening the October 10 episode of the U.S. show.

Gillis faced criticism from several comedians and former SNL cast members for the segment, including creator-star Dan Levy and former cast member Ego Nwodim. U.S. Weekend Update host Michael Che responded that comedy can be divisive, saying, "That's comedy. It's like, you think it's funny and some people don't."
