Southern Nazarene safety Tyler Ulrich dies five days after on-field injury

Tyler Ulrich, a 21-year-old safety for Southern Nazarene University, died on Thursday, five days after suffering a traumatic injury in a college football game. The injury occurred during a contest against Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, after which Ulrich was seen on the field but the exact nature of his injury was not disclosed. Southern Nazarene play-by-play announcer Dave Myrick said he could not determine what had happened when Ulrich went down. The university cancelled its upcoming game at Southwestern State University. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Ulrich's family.

"We extend our condolences to Tyler Ulrich’s family, teammates, coaches, and friends," a university spokesperson said.
