Apple adds Messages suggestions and smart lock controls in iOS 27.2 beta
The iOS 27.2 beta introduces a Messages suggestions feature with toggleable actions and new Home app options for smart lock automation.
Apple’s iOS 27.2 beta update includes a Messages "Suggestions" feature that was originally planned for the initial iOS 27 release but was delayed. The feature lets users create calendar events, reminders, notes, map entries, or track flights and packages directly from a message. In beta 4, Settings → Apps → Messages → Suggested Actions now provides individual toggles for each of the five suggestion types.
The Home app also receives two new controls for compatible smart locks. A "Lock After Closing" setting allows users to set the delay before a door automatically locks after being closed, while a "Door Left Open" notification can be configured to alert after 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes of the door remaining open.
In the same beta, Apple Music’s icon, accent color, and widgets have been updated, replacing the traditional red branding with a black-and-white icon and a blue accent for the active tab.
